MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi will decide on Wednesday whether to make a shock return .

“I’m a lot more in form than last week. Now I’ll have to wait to take a decision on Wednesday after we have some X-rays as to whether I race or not in Germany. Doing a full race will be a different story, but I still have another couple of days to get a bit better.”

Rossi had admitted after his private session on a YZF-R1 in Misano, Italy last week that he was still in pain.

“I had some pain in the ankle, the knee and the shoulder, but above all I lacked strength in the shoulder and a bit of movement in the ankle,” stated Rossi, who also suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the season.

The Italian, who had never missed a race in his career before the accident, has been sidelined for the last four races.

Rossi is in his sixth season with Yamaha but there is intense speculation that he will join Ducati for the 2011 campaign.

In his absence, team-mate Jorge Lorenzo has opened up a 52-point lead over fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa in the championship standings.

Rossi lies in seventh place, 104 points off the lead with 11 races remaining.
