Ex Champ Hamilton back on Top
McLaren were right on Red Bull’s pace today, Hamilton having been right on Webber’s tail until a slow stop pushed him back to third, with Jenson just behind. Then came their unexpected advancement. Button stated over the radio: “We shoved them and they broke. “Excellent”
It was Lewis’ first win of the season. He was given a comfortable view of the Red Bull blunder when it happened. “It was excellent to watch. It was like viewing an action movie in HD,” he laughed.
As to what made the speed differential between the Red Bulls at that fateful moment, plots are starting to build. Had Mark made a mistake? “You guys need to dig more, somewhere else,” he hinted to the throng of reporters. “They were both pushing, and they both had the same engine maps. Mark was struggling a little on the prime [tyre],” Christian Horner insisted, but there remain accusations that Webber was told to turn his revs down just before Vettel made the fateful move.
Team mates Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel were left blaming each other as they watched McLaren score an one-two at the Turkish Grand Prix.
The Red Bull antics seem to have taken the gloss of Hamiltons win.
